On the day of the celebration of the Presentation of the Vladimir Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, Metropolitan Alexy of Chelyabinsk and Miass celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the St. Simeon Cathedral. The ruling bishop was assisted by the clergy of the cathedral. In his sermon, Metropolitan Alexy congratulated everyone on the feast of the Presentation of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God. “The Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God has been a special patroness of our land since ancient times. The image of the Mother of God, written by the holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke, is in our Fatherland, from it many signs and wonders are performed. In difficult years, people turn to the Most Pure Virgin through Her Vladimir image for grace-filled intercession and help. And today in churches we pray to the Queen of Heaven, as once St. Cyprian prayed with a host of clergy and residents of Moscow, exclaiming: “Mother of God, save the Russian Land!” This is probably the main prayer that we address to the Queen of Heaven when we commemorate Her.
