Yesterday, after the evening service, the candles burned softly in the temple. I stood and watched the flames flicker, and it was so peaceful around.

The sun came out just as we finished choir practice yesterday. Those beams hitting the cathedral made the whole sky look like it was pointing right at it.

Matthew BrownSarah, that timing is something else. I remember last fall when the same thing happened right after Vespers — those rays lit up the icon of the Theotokos in the narthex like a spotlight. Makes you wonder if the weather’s just showing up for rehearsal too.

The old bells in the belfry have been there for decades and still ring beautifully at every service. I remembered my grandfather pulling them with his hand.

Early morning mist at the monastery up on the hill. Always reminds me to slow down and say a prayer before the day gets going.
