“The image of Saint Euphrosyne in the history and culture of Belarus”translated

On June 29, as part of the project “Consonances of Eternal Beauty”, a historical excursion “The Image of St. Euphrosyne in the History and Culture of Belarus”, dedicated to the 865th anniversary of the creation of the Cross of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk, took place in the Department for Supporting Active Longevity in the daytime conditions of the state institution “Territorial Center for Social Services for the Population of Polotsk District”.

The librarian of the parish of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Novopolotsk, Olga Bakunovich, introduced those present to the pages of the life of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk, as well as the history of the creation and reconstruction of the Cross-Ark - the greatest shrine of Belarus.

There was a viewing of video material dedicated to the works of the outstanding restoration artist and scientist Vladimir Dmitrievich Sarabyanov, who made a huge contribution to the discovery and study of unique frescoes of the 12th century in the Transfiguration Church of the Savior Euphrosyne Monastery.

The head of the VKontakte circle of the Department for Supporting Active Longevity in Day Care, Galina Nikolaevna Nelina, presented to those present an exhibition of Orthodox literature dedicated to the history of the Polotsk Spaso-Euphrosinievsky Monastery.
