The Metropolitan of Corinth at the Holy Monastery of Karakallos on Mount Athostranslated

The Holy Monastery of Caracalla on Mount Athos was visited during the two days of July 11-12, 2026 by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Corinth, Mr. Pavlos, in order to celebrate the holy feast of the First Apostles Peter and Paul, to whom the Catholic of the Monastery is honored. On Saturday July 11, following the arrival and official reception of His Eminence following His escort, a solemn holy vigil was held, which concluded on Sunday morning. The celebratory feast followed with the Monastery's Professor Elder Filotheos welcoming Rev. Metropolitan, referring to the connection of His journey with the Apostle Paul and inviting His Eminence to link this journey from here on out with the Monastery of Karakallos, as another reference to the Apostle of the Nations.

His Eminence, during His objection, warmly thanked the Elder for the kind and honorable invitation to lead the festival of the Monastery and expressed His emotion, speaking of the common struggle of monks and laity, to experience and witness Christ Crucified and Risen. The vigil was attended by the Abbot of I.M. Philotheou Elder Nikodimos and the Abbot of I.M....

Thanks for this story. It is interesting that Geront φιλόθεος directly connected the work of Metropolitan Paul with the Apostle Paul and invited the monastery there. It would be good if such connections happened more often in our lives.

The way Geron Philotheos directly tied Metropolitan Paul’s path to St. Paul and then invited him to link it to Karakallou from now on really stood out to me too. It’s a concrete reminder that we’re all supposed to be living the same crucified and risen Christ whether we’re monks on the Mountain or just working folks back home. Thanks for sharing the article.

Elder Philotheos said it very nicely when he connected the path of Metropolitan Paul with the Apostle Paul and invited him to join it with the Monastery of Karakallos. I especially liked that he talked about the common struggle of monks and lay people. These things also give courage to us who are outside, on the bus and in everyday life.

That connection Geron Philotheos made really struck me too. I remember when Metropolitan Paul visited our parish in Corinth a few years back — he spoke about the same thing, how the Apostle’s road keeps unfolding through ordinary people. Mikheil, that's right - when a person stands on Paul's path for years, then they invite him. In my opinion, in everyday life this connection would be simple things: prayer in the morning, righteousness at work and peace at home in the evening.
