Metropolitan of Volokolamsk awards Putin’s Aide with Church Decoration

Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, met on July 1 with Yuri Ushakov, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, responsible for Foreign Policy.
During the meeting, Metropolitan Anthony presented Ushakov with the Order of the Holy Right-Believing Prince Alexander Nevsky (Second Class). The award was bestowed by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia in recognition of the Russian statesman’s contribution to the development of relations between the Church and the state.
Following the award ceremony, Metropolitan Anthony and Ushakov held discussions on current issues on the international agenda.
