On July 6, in the teahouse at the Church of the Great Martyr and Victorious George in the city of Ivanovo, something happened to the participants of the young creative NOT’camp. The chairman of the missionary department of the Ivanovo-Voznesensk diocese, the rector of the church, Priest John Lvov, held an informal conversation for the children about the most important thing - about God, faith and the meaning of life.

From the first minutes, communication ceased to be just a lecture. The guys asked questions, and the priest answered them. The main goal of the missionary meeting, according to the priest himself, was not just to tell, but to show.

The conversation gradually developed into a tour of the church. Participants in the NOT’camp learned about the symbolism of church architecture and why every element of the church has a deep spiritual meaning. Priest John explained the meaning of icons, candles, the structure of the altar, and spoke in detail about the Sacrament of Communion.

It's good that the children were free to ask questions and not just listen. I find it particularly interesting that Father Jovan showed how to enter the altar and explained the Holy Communion - that is the most difficult thing to understand until you see it up close. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, this is exactly the power - when they don't just tell, but immediately lead and show. Here in Odesa, after such excursions, my daughter then painted an iconostasis at home and asked why the candles were placed in this way. And in Ivanovo, judging by the description, it turned out quite like a family.
