Honorary Doctorate of the Theological School of A.P.Th. Bishop Bukombas Chrysostomos will be announcedtranslated

The Most Reverend Bishop of Bukomba and Western Tanzania Mr. Chrysostomos will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate of the Theology Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.  The Commemoration Ceremony will take place in the ceremony hall of the old Philosophical School on July 23, 2026, Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

The Most Reverend Bishop of Bukomba, Mr. Chrysostomos Maidonis, was born in 1956 in Plomari, Lesvos, from a seaman's family. He received the encyclical letters in his birthplace and then studied at the Higher Ecclesiastical Rizario School (1974-1976) and at the Theological School of the University of Athens (1977-1981). After his studies he became subordinate to the Elder Hieromonk Spyridon, in Nea Sketi on Mount Athos, where he became a monk.

On August 10, 1982, he was ordained a deacon in the Holy Monastery of Agios Paulos of Mount Athos by the Metropolitan of Ierissou, Mr. Nikodimos, and an elder on February 27, 1983, in the Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Stefanos Arneas. He served for 40 years as a Preacher and for 30 years Protosygello of the Holy Metropolis of Ierissos, where he developed a rich preaching, spiritual, catechetical and youth work.
