September 7, 2026 · 1 min read

The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Syros Mr. Dorotheos officiated on Saturday morning at the Holy Church of Agios Georgios in Stenia Andros, in the presence of a large number of believers. Among the faithful were the MP of Cyclades Mr. Fortomas, the Mayor of Andros Mr. Sousoudis, the Deputy Mayor Mr. Lotsaris, the veteran captain Mr. Tzortzis, one of the captains of the "Andros Queen" Mr. Delalopoulos and sailors from the ships of the Andros ship owners Georgios and Dimitrios Stefanos, and performed Fourteen-day Memorial of Andrios Nautikos, who died suddenly.

In his memorial and fairy-tale address, the Reverend Mr. Dorotheos II referred to the difficult life of sailors and addressed comforting words to the mother and family of the deceased and urged them to always keep him alive in their memory, praying for the repose of his soul.

May the young sailor's soul rest in peace. The life of sailors is really hard, especially when you are away from family. It is good that Metropolitan Dorotheos found the right words for the mother and relatives.

Metropolitan Dorotheos spoke well about the hard life of sailors. I know one such person from Burgas, 40 years on ships - he said that the hardest thing for him was not to see his children grow up. God forgive the boy and comfort his mother.

You are right, Nikolay, and I have heard similar words from an old sailor from Sozopol - he said that the hardest part was missing the children's birthdays and coming back to an empty house. May God forgive the boy and give strength to his mother.
