Crowd for Saint Paisios at the Pilgrimage of Saint John the Russian in Neo Prokopitranslated

July 13, 2026 · 1 min read

During the two days of July 11 and 12, 2026, the memory of St. Paisios the Agioreitos was celebrated with particular splendor, at the First Pilgrimage of St. John the Russian in N. Prokopi, as has been established there, after his canonization (2015) and after the inauguration (12/7/2024) of the Holy Chapel in his honor, behind the Pilgrimage Church of St. John the Russian in N. Prokopi. On Saturday morning, the Most Reverend Pastor, Metropolitan of Chalkidos, Mr. Chrysostomos and the Most Reverend Bishop of Skopelos, Mr. Nikodimos, welcomed students from pontifical universities in Rome, guests of the Apostolic Ministry of the Church of Greece, to the Holy Pilgrimage of Saint John.

I am glad that so many people came to Saint Paisius in New Prokopi. I was especially touched by the fact that they awarded the award to 100-year-old Ivan Enotiadis - this is a real hard worker who has helped all his life without self-interest. I wonder how the students from Rome reacted to the service.

Ivan Enotiadis at 100 years old, that is admirable. All his life without anything for himself, just helping in the church. Students from Rome certainly did not see such service and such people every day.

That’s wonderful they honored old Mr. Ioannis Enotiadis after all those years of quiet help. A hundred years old and still going strong at the shrine—makes you think. I wonder what those Roman students made of the evening service and the crowd.

I am glad that Mr. Ioann Enotiadis, the same 100-year-old volunteer who helped for decades in the church for free, was honored. I wonder how the students from Rome took the vespers with so many people.

Yes, Ivan Enotiadis really deserved that award, 100 years old, and he still comes to help every day. The students from Rome must have been amazed by the number of people at the vespers, but they rarely see such a crowd. And what do you think impressed them more — the service or the church itself?
