In an atmosphere of deep emotion, holy rejoicing and grateful remembrance, the holy memorial service of the late Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa Mr. Parthenius III took place today, Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Savvas of Igiasmenos in Alexandria, on the thirty-year anniversary since the Blessed Patriarch measured life. († July 23, 1996 – July 23, 2026). During the Divine Liturgy, the A.Th.M. the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa Mr. Theodoros II, who, before the end of it, performed the holy memorial service and prayed for the repose of the soul of his late Predecessor and spiritual Father.

This day was not just a historical anniversary for the Alexandrian Church. There was a spiritual meeting of memory and gratitude where with obvious emotion His Beatitude said, among other things:

I remember how it was said that Parthenios loved the African parish very much. 30 years have passed and Teodoro B still speaks so warmly about him - it's cool. God rest his soul.

I remember how Parthenios III. founded new missions in Kenya and Uganda. I am glad that Theodoros II. she remembers him so personally after thirty years, it shows how strong a relationship they had. May God give him eternal rest.

Yes, Matej, those missions in Kenya and Uganda were really important, Parthenios himself personally ordained the first priests from the local tribes there. I am glad that Theodoros II. he remembers it so fondly, it can be seen that it was not just an obligation. May he rest in peace.

It is true, Vakhtang, Parthenios really entered the hearts of Africans. Theodore's words remind me of what Parthenios used to say when he was sitting under the trees in the garden and talking to the congregation. God rest both of them.

It is true, Vakhtang, that Parthenios' love for Africans was truly outstanding. It reminds me of how Theodore once told us that Parthenios personally went to the villages and taught the children to pray by hand. God bless you.

It's true Anna, Parthenios's story about walking in the villages and teaching children by hand reminds me a lot of my grandfather, who also personally went to houses in Kutaisi and taught them how to pray. Teodores is also familiar with these stories, isn't he? God rest Parthenios.
