The Diocese of N. Ionia invites children to its new camps (VIDEO)translated

July 9, 2026 · 1 min read

The Holy Diocese of Nea Ionia and its Pastor are calling on the children to come to the children's camps in the Sfendalis area of the Municipality of Oropos, as there are still two periods left until July 26. For this year's camp season, boys and girls who have completed the 4th, 5th and 6th grade of Primary School will be able to participate.

The Camps were created with the aim of offering children a safe, creative and spiritually beneficial environment, in which they will have the opportunity to live unique experiences of joy, carefreeness, friendship and cooperation, close to nature and in the arms of the Church.

This year's camp seasons are structured as follows:

1st Term: July 6 – July 12

2nd Term: July 13 – July 19

3rd Term: July 20 – July 26

As stated in the announcement: "The Holy Diocese of Nea Ionia lovingly invites children and their families to support this new effort, which aims not only to entertain children, but also to cultivate their spiritual life.

Looks like a solid setup for the kids who just finished 4th, 5th, or 6th grade. The location near Oropos by the nature sounds perfect for that mix of games, friends, and some church time they mention. Any idea what the daily schedule looks like?

My cousin's boy just finished Year 6 and would love the mix of nature and church stuff they describe. The last two periods still have spaces right? Might give the diocese a ring tomorrow and ask about the daily timetable Matthew mentioned.

My two granddaughters went last summer after finishing 5th and 6th grade and they loved the morning prayers followed by swimming and crafts in the afternoon. The schedule felt balanced, not too packed. Did yours ever go to church camp, Matthew?

My granddaughter Laura's two girls came back last summer after 5th and 6th grade saying the same thing about morning prayers by the trees and then swimming. The Sfendali spot near Oropos looks like it still has room in the last two periods. I might call the Metropolis myself and ask what time they do the evening services.

My niece went to the second period last year after finishing Year 5 and she still talks about the evening bonfires where they sang hymns. The balance you mentioned is spot on. Did your girls make any friends there that they keep in touch with?

My niece’s boy did the second period last year and couldn’t stop talking about those morning prayers under the pines before they hit the water. The evening services usually start around 7:30, right after dinner. Worth giving the Metropolis a ring; they’re pretty quick to answer.
