Fire in Konitsa: Monks in the fight to put it out (VIDEO)translated

For the ninth consecutive day, the battle with the large forest fire in Trapezitsa, Konitsa, continued yesterday, with the picture, however, showing an improvement compared to the particularly difficult hours of the previous days. Since the early hours of the morning, the weight of the operation has been transferred to the Aoos ravine, where five firefighting helicopters attempted, carrying out continuous water drops in difficult places with intense vegetation.

At the same time, foot units of the Fire Department and volunteers have been deployed in many parts of the forest, fighting small flare-ups. Monks who left their monasteries and climbed the mountain to help were also thrown into the firefighting battle, while the Konitsa Youth Volunteer Group is also on the front line every day, fighting its own battle against the flames.
