More than 300,000 pilgrims are expected in Iasi to celebrate the day of St. Paraskeva
From October 8 to 15, a traditional pilgrimage to the shrine with the relics of St. Paraskeva will take place in Iasi. Organizers expect about 300,000 people, and the largest influx of pilgrims is predicted on October 13 and 14, Agerpres reports.
The Romanian Orthodox Church and its subordinate Metropolis of Bessarabia celebrate the day of Saint Paraskeva on October 14. In Iasi, in the Metropolis of Moldova and Bukovina of the Romanian Orthodox Church, believers from different regions traditionally gather.
For the safety of pilgrims, gendarmes and other structures of the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs will be on duty in the city. “For the occasion of this religious event, the organizer expects the presence of about 300,000 people, with the maximum influx of pilgrims expected on October 13-14, when it is estimated that the waiting time will be long,” said representatives of the mobile unit of the Bacau gendarmerie.
A separate route is organized for pilgrims
To avoid too many people, the authorities have prepared a special corridor along which pilgrims will move to the Metropolitan Cathedral.
