The remains of an 18th-century Perm governor were discovered in the crypt of the Transfiguration Cathedraltranslated

Prikhody.ru 10/06/2026. During restoration work in the Transfiguration Cathedral of the city of Perm, the grave of the Perm governor Ilya Vasilyevich Koltovsky was found. The burial is located in the basement of the church and is a crypt, over which a cast-iron slab is placed.
After clearing the tombstone, employees of the Bishop's Quarter Museum deciphered the epitaph, thanks to which it was possible to establish the identity of the buried person, reports the diocese's public on the social network VKontakte. Ilya Vasilyevich Koltovsky (1741 - 1796) headed the Perm province in 1782 - 1796. Under him, the educational sphere actively developed (in particular, the first school in the city of Perm was opened, then transformed into the Main Public School), and healthcare.
The activities of the Perm governor were highly appreciated by Catherine II: on June 28, 1783, he was promoted to major general, in 1785, he became a Knight of the Order of St. Vladimir, II degree, and on March 25, 1791, he received the rank of lieutenant general.
