Spanish Ambassador to Greece Jorge Domecq paid an official visit to the Holy Metropolis of Messinia on the morning of May 18, 2026, as part of his two-day visit to the city of Kalamata and the wider region of Messinia.

The Spanish Ambassador was accompanied by Ms. Elena Foifa, Honorary Consul of Spain in Kalamata, and was welcomed by Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Messinia.

During their meeting, the two sides discussed matters of common interest concerning the two Mediterranean countries, Greece and Spain.

Ambassador Domecq expressed his enthusiasm about the meeting with Metropolitan Chrysostomos and conveyed his desire to meet him again in the future for further discussions.

As a token of remembrance of the visit, Metropolitan Chrysostomos offered the Ambassador a copy of the volume “Christian Messinia,” along with traditional local products from Messinia. In return, Ambassador Domecq presented the Metropolitan with a photographic album featuring images from Spain.
