Divine Liturgy at Voutes of Heraklion...translated

July 13, 2026 · 1 min read

On Sunday, July 12, 2026, Rev. Our Metropolitan Mr. Andreas celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Virgin in Voutes, Heraklion. In his speech, he referred to the celebrant Saint Paisios and to Fr. Grigorios, whose tent had complete flexibility, as this signifies the earthly and heavenly life of every Orthodox believer, especially a clergyman or monk. Before the dismissal, the 45-day memorial service of the late Elder Grigorio Skrafnakis, father of the General Secretary of the Municipality of Heraklion and pr. Member of Parliament Ms. Maria Skrafnakis, associate of our I. Diocese.

Καλό μνημόσυνο στον π. Γρηγόριο. Άκουσα δείχνει πόσο σημαντική είναι η ζωή του κληρικού και εδώ και εκεί. Να έχουμε την ευχή του.

The Sunday service at Voutes was beautiful. I was impressed by what the Metropolitan said about the flexibility of Father Gregory's inanimate body - a clear sign that the life of a priest or monk is worth living seriously. Eternal memory!

Good memorial to Fr. Grigorios. That his plot had complete flexibility after all these years made me think how differently we see the life of the clergyman when the time comes. Let's have him in our prayers.

Good memorial to Fr. Grigorios. That his plot had complete flexibility after all these years impressed me, as it did the Metropolitan. Let's have him in our prayers.

Yes, I was also impressed by the complete flexibility. It shows how the humble life of Father Gregory left a mark even on his body. Let's have him in our prayers, as you say.

Yes, flexibility after all these years is something you don't come across often. I remember my father saying something similar about an old man he saw on Mount Athos, that he shows a peace of mind that also remains in the body. Let's have him in our prayers.
