Timothy of Thessalio: Freedom in Christ through the testimony of Saint Kyriakitranslated

July 8, 2026 · 1 min read

On the evening of Monday, July 6, 2026, the eve of the feast of Saint Kyriaki, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thessaly, Mr. Timotheus officiated at the solemn Vespers service at the Holy Metropolitan Chapel of Agia Kyriaki Karditsis, which is located at the junction of Hermogenous and Agia Kyriaki streets. A multitude of pious believers came to the celebratory Holy Church, in order to honor the memory of the Holy Great Martyr and participate enthusiastically in the holy procession, receiving the blessing of the patron Saint.

Χαίρομαι που ο Σεβασμιώταος Τιμόθεος spoke for freedom through the scriptures of Holy Sunday, especially now that we remember του διωγμούς του Διοκλητιανού. Το παρεκκλήσιο at the corner of Ερμογένους και Αγιας Κιρικής always filled the world, this year even saw many young people. Να μή πρεσβεύει η Αγια να μένουμε σταιροί κι ήσει.

Mariana, I am also glad that the bishop connected freedom precisely with the martyrdom of the world Kyriaki - in those years under Diocletian, a person either hid or became a martyr. In our church in Plovdiv, we recently read about her life again, and it struck me how young she was, and how firm. What exactly did you remember from his sermon?
