The Holy Monastery of Leimonos is one of the most important religious, historical and spiritual monuments of Lesvos. The Monastery played an important role during the period of Ottoman rule. Of particular value is its rich library, which houses thousands of rare books, manuscripts, historical documents, making it one of the most important ecclesiastical libraries in Greece. Equally important is the collection of icons, sacred relics and ecclesiastical objects, which bear witness to the long history and artistic tradition of the monastery.
