Summer events for pupils of 3-4th grades of the Sunday school of the parish of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Bresttranslated

On July 13–15, 2026, summer events were organized for pupils of the 3rd and 4th grades of the Sunday religious school of the parish of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Brest, the program of which included joint prayer, spiritual conversations, creative tasks, a master class and an excursion.
All three days were united by a common theme - “Icons of the Most Holy Theotokos”: every day the children got acquainted with one of the icons of the Mother of God.
The first day began with a general prayer and an introductory conversation “Theology of the Icon” about the theological significance of the icon, the features of icon painting, and the meaning of icon veneration. The children became acquainted with a special system for transmitting space (“reverse perspective”) and light (“from shadow to light”) to reveal the spiritual world, and not simply reflect earthly reality, and also figured out why icon veneration is not idolatry.
Next, as part of the “Hour of Orthodoxy” classes, the children got acquainted with the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, “The Joy of All Who Sorrow”: they learned the history of the Moscow and St. Petersburg (with pennies) miraculous images, and examined the features of the iconography.
Then a film lecture took place in the assembly hall of the Sunday school: they watched and discussed the Orthodox animated film “Heavenly Joy”...
