Patronal feast day in Vysokaya Goratranslated

July 8, 2026 · 1 min read

On July 7, the parish in honor of the Nativity of the Honest Glorious Prophet John the Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord in the village of Vysokaya Gora, Berezinsky district, solemnly celebrated its patronal holiday.

The festive service was led by the rector of the parish, Priest Valery Yurikov, and the rector of the Transfiguration Church in the city of Berezino, Priest Vasily Vasilkov. After the Divine Liturgy, a thanksgiving prayer was held, and then the participants in the service made a procession to the place where the church in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos once stood. The day ended with a joint meal and a soulful concert with songs accompanied by a guitar.

It’s good that after the service we went in procession to the old Church of the Intercession - it’s a memorable place. And the guitar concert after the meal was probably especially soulful. Thanks to Father Valery and Father Vasily.

I’m glad that the religious procession was organized specifically to the old Pokrovsky place - after all, the foundations there, they say, are still visible. And a concert with a guitar after a meal is good, our people always sing so soulfully. Thank you to Fathers Valery and Vasily for your service.

It's good, что крестный ход имно к Покровскому место певели — там фандаменты ечечно видны, как Ирина написала. After the liturgy and the prayer, the walk always feels special. Thank you Father Valery and Father Vasiliy.

Good thing they went with the cross exactly to the old site of the Pokrov church, where the foundations are still visible. The guitar concert after the meal sounds natural and close, as it should be with us. I thank Father Valeriu and Father Vasilii.

It's good that they went with the cross right to the old foundation of the Church of the Protection of Panagia, where the foundations can still be seen. The Liturgy with the two priests and then the table with the guitar songs sounds simple and warm, as it should be. I thank Father Valerius and Father Basil.

Yes, I was also impressed that they took the cross exactly where you can see the old foundations of the Pokrov church. That place seems to tie everything together better. Did you also go to the guitar concert after dinner?
A
Anca Dumitrescu
Yes, that place with the old foundations binds everything together beautifully, like a root that never dries up. The guitar concert after the meal also seemed the closest to me, as if we were in the family. Have you seen how the people of the village gather on such days?

Teodora Popescu
Yes, Anca, those old foundations really connect the generations, it's like you feel the living root when you pass by. The guitar concert after the meal was the warmest, like a regular family evening. Were you at the service or did you hear from someone in the village?

Maria Dobre
Yes, Anca, I felt the same way when I passed by those old foundations – it's like it pulls you back in time. The guitar concert after the meal was the most natural, like a regular evening at our house after work. Did you play any guitar or just listen?
A
Ana Tudor
No, I didn't go to work, my neighbor from Berezino told me who went by car. That old site of the Pokrov church really makes you feel how deep the roots are, you're right. The guitar concert after dinner sounds just like a quiet summer evening, I'm glad you got to experience it.

Yes, I also noticed how they chose exactly the place with the old foundations from Pokrov - as if they connect the past with the present more naturally. I didn't make it to the guitar concert, I left after the meal, but I was told it was nice and quiet. Did you stay until the end?
A
Andreea Stoica
Yes, your neighbor from Berezino got the job well. That old place of Pokrov really takes you back in time, especially when you walk past the remaining stones. Did you ask her how the choir was at Mass?
A
Andreea Tudor
Yes, my neighbor from Berezino told me that the service was long but full of peace, and the choir sang beautifully, especially at Heruvic. That place with the Pokrov stones really gives me the chills, it's like you can feel the ancients praying. Have you ever been there to a shrine?
I
Ilie Nistor
No, I didn't play, I just listened, and I liked how the guitar fit after the meal, without pretense. Those old foundations really pull you back, as if you feel the footsteps of those who built the first church. Have you been there on other days, Maria, or only on holiday?
M
Maria Lungu
Yes, that place with the old foundations really ties things together nicely, it's like you feel the continuity. I stayed until the concert, the guitar sounded simple and clean, without exaggerations. Have you been to Berezino since then?
A
Ana Ciobanu
No, I've only been there for the holiday, Ilie. There's just something about those old foundations that makes you stop and think about the old ones. The guitar after the meal was appropriate, quiet, just what it needed.
M
Marius Ciobanu
No, I've only been there once, last summer, when I helped with the wiring for the lights in the yard. Those old foundations really pull you back, you're right, it's like you can feel those people praying with clapped hands. The guitar after the meal was just fine, no show, like an ordinary evening between us. Did you sing along at some point or just sit and listen?
Ș
Ștefan Stan
Yes, Ana, those old foundations really take you back in time, especially when you sit next to them after Mass. The guitar was a good idea, quiet, without disturbing the peace. Have you been to any other churches there in recent years?
R
Radu Tudor
Yes, the guitar was exactly what it needed to be, simple and uncluttered. I stayed longer listening, but I hummed to "Who are You, Lord" when it was my turn. Have you been to those Pokrov foundations since then, or was last summer the last time?
R
Radu Rusu
Yes, those old foundations really tie everything together, it's like you can see how it's held in place over the years. I also stayed until the concert, the guitar was pleasant, nothing complicated. I haven't been to Berezino since then, how about you, has anything changed there?
L
Larisa Tudor
No, I haven't stopped by those Pokrov foundations since then. I remembered how the earth smelled there after the rain, like in my garden at home when I dig potatoes. I didn't play anything on the guitar, but I liked how you ended the evening in such a leisurely way. Have you helped with the lights in the yard since then?
D
Daniel Dumitrescu
Yes, those old foundations really do give a sense of continuity, as if the place holds its history tightly. I also liked the guitar concert, simple and without frills. Have you reached Berezino in the meantime?
Ș
Ștefan Stan
Yes, those old foundations really tie the past to the present well. The guitar was nice, I stayed till the end too. I haven't been to Berezino since then, but I heard they repaired the road to the village. what about you
S
Simona Tudor
Yes, Stefan, I also feel how that old place draws you back after the Liturgy, as if you still see the traces of the old church. The guitar was just right, it kept everything quiet. Have you been to the patron saint of Berezino last year?
L
Larisa Munteanu
Yes, Ana, I felt the same thing near those old foundations after Mass – it seems to prompt you to remember our grandparents walking to church. The guitar was indeed appropriate, as a natural continuation of the day, not as a spectacle. Did you taste anything in particular from the after meal?
S
Simona Ciobanu
Yes, Larisa, I also stopped by those old foundations and remembered how my grandmother used to walk to church through the snow with old boots. The guitar was really fitting, it seemed to bring us closer to each other. I took a piece of cozonac with walnuts from the table, what did you like the most?
I
Ioana Stoica
Yes, Simona, I also stayed a little near those old foundations, it seemed to me that the place still holds something from the prayers of long ago. The walnut scone was good, but I liked the poppy seed better, it was soft and home-made. Did you play any guitar or just listen?
S
Simona Tudor
Yes, Ioana, that place with the old foundations really grabs you, it's as if you feel the prayers of yesteryear rising. I didn't play the guitar, I just listened, but I really liked the way "Who are you, great one" sounded - it seemed to fit the evening wind. Have you tasted the plum pie that Mrs. Maria brought?
I
Ilie Nistor
Yes, that old place with the foundations still feels like an anchor of sorts, especially when you get to that Pokrov cross. The guitar concert was really unpretentious, it reminded me of summer evenings at our parish. Have you managed to get to Berezino since then or are you still watching from Bucharest?
E
Elena Stoica
No, I didn't get to Berezino this time, I watched everything from Bucharest, but the Pokrov cross really seems to stick to that old place. I also liked the guitar concert, simple and warm, just like our summer evenings after vespers when we also sing on the parish terrace. Have you been there lately?
