The Metropolitan of Floris in the Holy Church of Agios Georgios Vevitranslated

On Sunday 5th of Matthew, July 5, 2026, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Florina, Prespa and Eordaia Mr. Irenaios officiated at Orthros and celebrated the High Priestly Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of Agios Georgios Vevis Florina. The faithful from the parish, as well as from the wider region, participated in the Eucharistic Gathering. Before the end of the Divine Liturgy, our Metropolitan preached the divine word, taking occasion from the Gospel passage of the day, which refers to the healing of the two demon-possessed Gadarenes. He emphasized that Christ is the only one who can really free man from all forms of spiritual slavery, from passions, sin and fear.

He also emphasized that the value of the human soul is incomparably greater than any material good, pointing out that the inhabitants of Gadarene preferred their material interests to the saving presence of Christ. Finally, he called on the faithful to open their hearts to God every day, so that His grace transforms their lives and gives them peace, hope and spiritual strength.
