SUBJECT: Renewal of the responsibility cooperation between the Municipality and the Church in Bethlehemtranslated

Report office ope.gr The traditionally strong ties of cooperation were renewed by the Municipality of Bethlehem and the Patriarchate of Jerusalem through the representative of the Metropolitan of Diocesaria on the occasion of the assumption of duties by the new municipal authority under Hana Hanania.  The Basilica of the Nativity in Bethlehem and the Christian community in the city where Christ was born form the core of cooperation between the two institutions and in this context His Holiness Mr. Benedict visited yesterday, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the seat of the Municipality where he was received by the new Mayor Mr. Hanania.

During the meeting, the Metropolitan of Diocesaria expressed his congratulations to the Mayor and the members of the Municipal Council on the occasion of assuming their new duties, wishing success for the good of Bethlehem and its residents.

He also confirmed that the municipality, the church and local organizations constitute a system that works in the spirit of cooperation and interaction in order to serve the people of the city and preserve its spiritual, national and historical existence.
