Cyprus, 52 years of illegal occupation: Religious rights are violated, churches and culture continue to be destroyedtranslated

The systematic violation - for five decades - of International Law and basic human rights caused by Attila's barbaric passage from Cyprus was mentioned, among others, by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulidis, in his speech at the commemoration event for the black anniversaries of the coup and the Turkish invasion, at the Presidential Palace, which, among others, was attended by the Archbishop of Cyprus Ms. George.  Mr. Christodoulidis underlined that Turkey, with the invasion of Attila 52 years ago, committed one of the biggest crimes in the post-war history of Europe with a heavy account, spread destruction and immense pain, with thousands of dead, thousands of refugees and missing persons.

At the same time, he clarified that the continuation of the Republic of Cyprus is an "inviolable red line" and a two-state solution or a covert confederation is not up for discussion, stressing that he is not going to become "the President of the partition" or sign an arrangement that will not be functional, sustainable and resistant to time.
