The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Maroneia and Komotini, Mr. Panteleimon, celebrated the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist today, Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the Holy Church of Panagia "AXION ESTI" of the Camps of the Holy Metropolis in the area of Kryoneri Rodopi, at the beginning of the first camp season for girls. In his speech, after explaining the Gospel Reading of the day, he addressed fatherly advice to the children, thanked the executives, who volunteer to serve at the Camps, wished everyone a good rest of the Summer, and gave an appointment for the next Summer.

Hope the girls enjoyed the Krioneri camp Liturgy. My parish in Manchester held a similar camp last year—kids sang the Akathist after, and we had lemonade from the church garden. Do you serve lemonade at your camp too?

Last year, at our parish camp, we also served the Liturgy in the tent church, and then the children sang “It is Worthy to Eat” very diligently. Do you make lemonade from your own garden or purchased? I wonder how it is in Krnoneri with water and heat.

The girls must have liked hearing the Gospel explained right there in the camp chapel. Our parish does a short summer camp too, but nothing as nice as Krioneri with its own church. Do the kids help with the services or just listen?

It’s nice that you also sang “Axion Estin” in the choir – that fits the church there perfectly. Here in Krioneri the children actually squeeze lemons from the garden themselves, and with a little mint from the bed next to it the lemonade becomes really refreshing. Do you also do something like this with the children in the church choir?

After the camp, the children in our choir not only sang “Axion Estin” but also tried to translate the text themselves – with funny mistakes. Do you actually do little summer projects with the little ones in elementary school?
