Emotion for the 104 victims of the tragedy in Mati – Trisagio, invitation to the dead and march on the road of firetranslated

In an atmosphere of deep emotion, commemorative events were held to mark eight years since the deadly fire in Neo Voutza and Mati that claimed the lives of one hundred and four (104) people and left dozens with burns. The events were organized by the Municipality of Marathon and the Association of Relatives of Death and Burns, to be a strong reminder of the value of human life and the need for prevention, accountability and justice, so that a similar tragedy is never repeated.

It should be noted that in this deadly fire, the Metropolis of Kifissia suffered enormous damage with the complete destruction of the building facilities of the Lyreion Children's Foundation in Neo Vountza and the Women's Holy Monastery of Agia Triad.

The events started on the afternoon of Thursday, July 23, 2026, from the Holy Church of Agios Ioannou Prodromos in Neos Voutzas, where the Memorial of the Victims is located. There a trisayo was celebrated for the repose of the souls of the one hundred and four (104) victims of the deadly fire by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Amarousiou, Oropou and Marathon Mr. Kyrillos and the priests of the area. This was followed by the reading of an invitation to all the dead.
