German President Steinmeier praises the role of the Orthodox Church - Meeting with Metropolitan Augustinetranslated

Report office ope.gr The important role of the Orthodox Church in the Federal Republic of Germany was emphasized by the President of the country, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Rev. Metropolitan of Germany Mr. Augustinos during the meeting they had yesterday, Wednesday, July 8, 2026. The Reverend Mr. Augustinos, in his capacity as the President of the Orthodox Episcopal Assembly of Germany, visited the residence of President Steinmeier where they had a conversation about the role of Orthodoxy in the country as well as the efforts being made for unity and harmonious coexistence.
The German President, after being informed by the Metropolitan Mr. Augustinos about the situation of the Orthodox Church, praised its role as well as the collective effort made within the framework of the Orthodox Episcopal Assembly of Germany under the presidency of His Eminence. Mr. Steinmeier particularly focused on the efforts of Metropolitan Augustin to promote ecological cooperation and opening up to various Christian churches.
