Biblical history in embroidered iconstranslated

July 6, 2026 · 1 min read

On July 7, the State Educational Institution “Ushachi District Center for Children and Youth” hosted an exhibition - a meeting “God has given us talents for good deeds”, which was held by Anna Mikhailovna Zagnetova-Aleskerova.

The meeting was held for two teams at once: “Eaglet” of the State Educational Institution “Ushachi Secondary School” and “Rainbow of Talents” of the Ushachi Republican Center for Children and Music, within the framework of cooperation between educational institutions and the Ushachi deanery.

A little earlier, Anna Mikhailovna held three meetings for the “Sun” and “Youth” squads at the Ushachi school.

The meetings with the guest were a breeze, aroused interest, and introduced us to biblical history in the format of a conversation.

It's good that Anna Mikhailovna spent a lot of time at the meeting for "Orlyanka", and for "Radugi Talantov", and more than three at school. Interestingly, how did the children react to the embroidered icons when she told the Bible story? Thank you for such work.

Well done Anna Mikhailovna who went to both detachments and made three more meetings at school. I liked that he combined them with the Ushachsky deacon. How did the children react when they saw the embroidered pictures?

It’s good that Anna Mikhailovna made it to school and to the center with the guys from “Eaglet” and “Rainbow of Talents”. I wonder what biblical stories she showed on the embroidered icons - maybe about Joseph or about the prodigal son? The children probably especially stared at the details in the embroidery.

I agree, Katarina, it's really nice that she reached "Orlić" and "Raduga", and three more times at school. The most interesting thing for me was when she showed the made icon of the birth of Jesus - the children gathered around her and started asking about each thread and color. Have you ever been to her workshop?

Anna Mikhailovna was just showing both “Joseph the Beautiful” and “The Prodigal Son”, Pavel, you guessed it right. The children really looked most at the faces and the thin threads in the clothes, especially when she explained how to embroider folds. Have you tried embroidering yourself or are you just observing?

Yes, I actually attended one of her workshops last year in Vitebsk. What surprised me the most was how patiently he explained each embroidery technique, as if he were talking to his own children. And you, Maria, would you try to make a small icon yourself?
