On Independence Day, a festive prayer service was held at St. Michael's Cathedraltranslated

July 3, 2026 · 1 min read

On Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus, with the blessing of the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, a thanksgiving prayer service was served in St. Michael’s Cathedral for the peace and prosperity given to our people.

Special funeral commemorations were also offered for all those who died during the Great Patriotic War, who laid down their lives for the Fatherland and our people, who died in captivity, suffered from serious wounds, hunger and deprivation.

At 12.00 the bell sounded over Lida.

Emily BennettThanks for sharing this. The special memorial prayers for those who died in the Great Patriotic War really stood out to me, especially remembering the ones who suffered in captivity or from hunger. It was good they rang the bells over Lida at noon too.
