"We are called to become the hands of the merciful love of Jesus," said His Beatitude Father Patriarch Daniel at the historic "St. M. Mc. Gheorghe" Chapel of the Patriarchal Residence on Sunday.

His Beatitude explained that the Gospel story of the healing of the two blind and the mute in Capernaum highlights the connection between faith, healing and merciful love: "Essentially, today's Gospel shows us that, through faith in Christ, the sick are healed."

The Patriarch of Romania presented three main teachings of the evangelical text: the necessity of strong faith, the gratitude of the healed and accompanying the preaching of the Gospel with deeds of merciful love.

Strong faith, necessary for healing Referring to the two blind men, Blessed Father Daniel showed that the Savior asked them to openly confess their faith before healing them.

"The Lord Jesus wanted to show that strong faith in God is necessary when a person asks Him for a favor. He asked these blind men if they had faith. So they had a hidden faith, but Jesus brought this faith of theirs to light."
