"The power and presence of St. Venerable Demetrius encouraged the history of the Church of this nation, the rulers, hierarchs, clerics, monks and the crowd of believers, who always find comfort and help, praying before his relics", said the Most Reverend Father Paisie Sinait, Patriarchal Vicar Bishop, on Sunday evening, at the Patriarchal Cathedral.

The hierarch officiated the Vigil service at the beginning of the celebration of the Bringing of the relics of St. Cuv. Dimitrie the New in Bucharest.

"His prayer and intercession before the throne of the Most Holy Trinity saved us from many dangers. Saint Demetrius the New, celebrated uninterruptedly for over 250 years on the historic hill of the Metropolis in the Capital, protects with his prayers the city of Bucharest, the entire country and the pious people", recalled the patriarchal vicar father.

"Who did not enjoy the help and consolation of Saint Demetrius the New? Who did not feel the power of his prayers in times of trials and temptations? A great treasure was given to the Romanian nation through his grace-bearing relics, which guard the highest and most important hill of the Romanian Capital!"
