PS Ignatius: We can become a book in which God is imprinted if we remember how the Mother of God livedtranslated

"We too can become a book in which God can be imprinted only if we remember how the Mother of God lived her life," Bishop Ignatie al Husilior emphasized on Tuesday, at the dedication of the "Alexandru Vlahuță" Monastery in Vaslui county.

Quoting Saint Gregory Palamas, the hierarch emphasized the role that the Blessed Virgin Mary had in the history of salvation.

"She is the one who offers to all humanity the most beautiful book: the book of salvation, written by God the Son himself, incarnated, as a Man, from the righteous womb of the Most Holy Theotokos. It is a book that each of us is called to read, to deepen within us not so much with our reason, but with our heart."

At the same time, the Bishop of Husi recalled the words of Saint Nicolae Cabasila, according to which the Mother of God "shows us man in all his splendor and beauty".

"She is the one who first shows what man is and how God created him full of grace, full of radiance and divine beauty. Through her special prayer she prepared to become the living Church of the Living God, of God the Son," said His Eminence.

That line about becoming a book where God gets printed really stuck with me. I keep thinking how the Theotokos prepared herself through quiet prayer and humility, not big dramatic stuff. Makes me wonder if I’m actually making space in my own day for that kind of listening, especially when my shift runs long at the hospital.
