In Nizhny, the social service of the Resurrection deanery is definitely needed - I remember that in the Resurrection Church they recently fed a disabled grandmother from the parish kitchen. What services are you planning to add with the grant?

Алексей Андреев
I remember that in the Church of the Resurrection the kitchen was cooking soup on a cold day - now the grant will help feed more families.

Thank you for remembering about my grandmother - in Novosibirsk, grandmothers with disabilities also often come to the church kitchen, especially on Lenin Street, where our kitchen is open until five. What do you think, Maxim, is it worth adding help with medications to the project?

In Krasnodar, on Herzen Street, we also have a lot of old women with disabilities, but we don’t distribute medicine - only food. How do you deal with pharmacies in Novosibirsk?

Yes, Maxim, this kind of help for grandmothers is exactly where it all begins. With the grant, we want to add regular home visits by volunteers with hot meals and simple care, so that not only the church provides food. Do you often receive such requests in Nizhny?

Олег Голубев
In Nizhny, we receive such requests from elderly people almost every week, especially in winter, when it’s hard to go out ourselves. Hot meals at home are a necessary thing, our volunteers have already tried them with thermoses a couple of times, but without a grant it was from case to case. How often do you plan to travel?

In Nizhny, too, at first they only helped with food, but then they realized that for grandmothers with disabilities, medicine is more important than food. We work with pharmacies through an agreement: they give us a discount, we pay from the grant and deliver them ourselves. Have you tried using any medications in Krasnodar or just food so far?

Yes, I remember that kitchen at Voskresenskaya’s - the soup was always hearty, with barley and carrots. Now, with the grant, they will probably start distributing it to addresses so that the elderly don’t have to drag themselves along. Did you often help there, Alexey?

Thank you, Oleg, for writing. We also receive such requests regularly, especially from single grandmothers in the area. According to the grant, we plan two trips a week on weekdays, plus we’ll buy good thermoses to keep it warm. What church do you volunteer at? Maybe we can come up with something together?

Анастасия Морозова
Here in Minsk, too, in winter such calls are most common, especially from those who, after surgery or simply can’t use their legs anymore. Two trips a week is good, the main thing is not to be disrupted. Oleg, do your volunteers prepare the food themselves or do they take it from the parish refectory?
