Kilkisiou Bartholomeus: The Prophet Elias as a model of temperance teaches us that the truth is not measured by majoritiestranslated

July 21, 2026 · 1 min read

On Monday, July 20, 2026, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Polyani and Kilkisi presided over the Mystery of the Holy Eucharist, which was celebrated in the Solemn Church of the Prophet Helios in the village of Fyska Kilkis. In his sermon, His Holiness referred to the Saint, saying among other things: "Prophet Elijah as a model of self-control, exercise and constant prayer teaches us that the truth is not measured by majorities. A man can be against the whole world and yet be on God's side. Faith requires courage, consistency and a clean life. The Holy Bible presents Prophet Elijah as a man with complete trust in God, with ardent zeal for the truth and with humility."

Before the end of the liturgical assembly, His Holiness ordained the Vicar of the Holy Church, Father Ioannis Ioannidis, as Protopresbyter of the Holy Metropolis.
