The preservation of the Patriarchal School of Zion is also a national issuetranslated

July 8, 2026 · 1 min read

The Patriarchal School of Jerusalem is a living nucleus of Greek education and Orthodox tradition in the heart of the Holy Land. In an interview with Cretaone 102.3 and Antigoni Andreaki, the headmaster of the Patriarchal School, Fr.

Father Vassilios underlined the importance of the presence of a Greek school in Jerusalem, not only as an educational institution but also as a body for maintaining the Greek presence.

"Having a Greek school in Jerusalem, the cradle of Christianity, we can support the institution of the Patriarchate and talk about a Patriarchate that has Orthodox and Greek continuity. It is also a national issue", he emphasized.

It's good Fr Vasileios said straight out that keeping the school going is a national matter too. The bit about the children themselves telling their parents it's safe there really stood out — that carries more weight than any official statement. I wonder how many Greek kids are studying at the Patriarchal School right now.
