Metropolitan Irenaios of Floris: "Faith is seen in our daily lives"translated

September 7, 2026 · 1 min read

On Sunday, September 6, 2026, the 14th Sunday of Matthew, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Florina, Prespa and Eordaia, Mr. Irenaios officiated at the Orthro and the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Panteleimonos Florina, in the presence of many believers. In his sermon our Pastor referred to the parable of the Royal Weddings and the invitation that God addresses to all people for His Kingdom. He pointed out that the cares and distractions of daily life often distance man from God and lead him to indifference towards His call.

At the same time, he emphasized that it is not enough to just accept the divine invitation, but repentance and a substantial change of life are required. Referring to the wedding garment, he emphasized that faith must be reflected in the Christian's daily life and expressed in practice through love for one's fellow man.

Finally, he wished everyone health and strength and invited the faithful to respond daily to Christ's invitation with faith and practical love.

Yes, he is right. Many times I wake up that worries about the pension, the health of the wife and the two boys pull me away from the church exactly as it says in the parable. I believe that wedding clothes are actually the simple everyday deeds, not just words. Thanks for this clear sermon.

Yes, I know the everyday worries thing well. For me it's often the garden, which always needs something, or the thoughts of my two daughters and their families that distract me. Ilie told me well to see the wedding dress as a completely normal act in everyday life - not just talk about it, but actually do it. Thanks for the reminder.

Yes, it is true Metropolitan. I am also often late for the evening prayer because of this - either I have to fix the car stand, or the conversation with my son will be postponed. Nunti clothes are really everyday things, not just going to church on Sunday.

Yes, everyday worries creep up on me all the time - especially when the baby wakes up at night and the dough for the rolls has to be in the kitchen again the next morning. I also think that the “wedding dress” as a completely normal act is strong, it sticks. How do you actually manage to pray quietly every now and then, despite the garden and the thoughts of your daughters?
