Larnaca: Memorial to those who fell during the Turkish invasion of 1974translated

The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Kiti, Mr. Nektarios, yesterday Sunday, July 19, 2026, officiated and preached at the Metropolitan Church of Sotiros in Larnaca. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, His Holiness presided over the annual National Commemoration of the Fallen during the Turkish Invasion of 1974.

Mrs. Irini Piki, Deputy Minister to the President, represented the Cypriot Government and delivered the memorial speech.

Also present were the Mayor of Larnaca Mr. Andreas Vyras, Brigadier General Savvas Savvas, representatives of the Police and Parties of the Province of Larnaca and other authorities of the city and province of Larnaca.

At the end, wreaths were laid and the National Anthem was sung.

Юлія МарченкоEternal memory to all those who died in 1974. It is good that Metropolitan Nektarios himself led the prayer in the Church of the Savior, and did not just send someone. I saw that both Mayor Viras and Mrs. Iryni Piki were there - that's right, that the authorities had come.
