Timothy of Thessalio: Freedom in Christ through the testimony of Saint Kyriakitranslated

On the evening of Monday, July 6, 2026, the eve of the feast of Saint Kyriaki, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thessaly, Mr. Timotheus officiated at the solemn Vespers service at the Holy Metropolitan Chapel of Agia Kyriaki Karditsis, which is located at the junction of Hermogenous and Agia Kyriaki streets. A multitude of pious believers came to the celebratory Holy Church, in order to honor the memory of the Holy Great Martyr and participate enthusiastically in the holy procession, receiving the blessing of the patron Saint.
During his speech, His Holiness emphasized that the Great Martyr Kyriaki is among the first martyrs of the Church, who with their sacrifice strengthened the faith of Christians and made their martyrdom a timeless confession of the Gospel.
Referring to the historical context of the time, he pointed out that the Saint lived in the 3rd century AD, during the cruel persecutions of the emperor Diocletian. At that time the Church was under constant persecution and the Christians, deprived of their freedom, gathered secretly to worship Christ, but remained steadfast in their faith and confession.
