International Meeting of Orthodox Youth: The Procession of Lights in Bucharesttranslated

“Dear young people, thank you for the beautiful Procession of Lights that you organized tonight, from the National Cathedral to the historic Patriarchal Cathedral. It was a pilgrimage of joy and peace", said yesterday, Wednesday evening, His Beatitude the Patriarch of Romania Mr. Daniel to the young people who participated in the International Orthodox Youth Meeting (ITO) 2026, who traveled in procession along this route. The Metropolitan of Arusha and Central Tanzania, Mr. Agathonikos, as well as the Theophilist Bishops of Northern Europe, Mr. Makarios, Mr. Barlaam of Ploesti, Mr. Paisios of Sinaia, and Mr. Timotheus of Prochobean, participated in the procession and prayer at the historic Patriarchal Cathedral, together with the young people.

Prayer for the young In the square of the Historic Patriarchal Cathedral, a short prayer composed especially for the event was held, which concluded with the following invocations pronounced by the Patriarch of Romania.

Today, the last day of ITO 2026 At the end of the procession, His Beatitude wished the participants a blessed evening, peace and joy and reminded them that they will meet again today, at the Divine Liturgy that will be celebrated...

That procession from the National Cathedral to the old Patriarchal one sounds like it must have been something special, especially with all those young people carrying lights through Bucharest at night. Nice to see Bishop Agathonikos from Tanzania there too. Hope the Liturgy today goes just as well for them.
