Saintly words of spiritual edification from the Holy Monastery of Taxiarchon Peliontranslated

July 17, 2026 · 1 min read

On the morning of Tuesday, July 14, 2026, the Professor of the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi, Geron Ephraim, officiated in memory of our Holy Father Nicodemus of Agioreitos in the Catholic Church of the Holy Monastery of Taxiarhon Pelion. During his sermon Elder Ephraim referred to Saint Nicodemus and his spiritual legacy. Before the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, the huts of the Saint were blessed.

On this day, the Prioress of the Monastery, Gerontissa Nikodemi, celebrated her denomination.

Afterwards, in Archontariki during the established monastic feast, the Professor of I.M.M. Vatopediou addressed a speech of spiritual edification to the sisters and the believers present, referring to the form and work of Saint Nicodemus.

How nice that Geronte Efraím spoke of Saint Nicodemus right in his memory and that they also blessed the kollyva. I was struck by the fact that the abbess celebrated her name day that same day; it must have been a double celebration for the community. Thank you for sharing this news from the monastery.

It is interesting that Abbot Ephraim, just on the day of memory of St. Nicodemus Agiorite spoke about his spiritual heritage. And the fact that the abbess celebrated her name day on the same day really turned out to be a double celebration for the monastery. Thank you for telling me.

Yes, Ilya, that’s right - the day turned out to be especially eventful. I myself was at such a ceremony in a similar monastery, when the abbot spoke about the works of St. Nicodemus, and I remember how he emphasized his “Invisible Warfare.” Have you read any of it lately?

Yes, Galina, “Invisible Swearing” is always at hand, especially when I’m tired after a shift at the store. I remember how it was about paying attention to your thoughts - right to the point. What chapter have you reread lately?

Yes, Galina, it is “Invisible Warfare” that sinks into the soul. After fishing on the Don, when you sit quietly and all sorts of thoughts creep in, you just remember his advice about sobriety. What translation do you usually read in - old or modern?

Yes, “Invisible Warfare” is also often open for me. After a shift on the road, when thoughts are already running wild, the chapter on sobriety is especially helpful. Where do you most often stay now, Elena?
