Kujtimi i Mjekëve të Shenjtë Jomercenarë Kozma dhe Damianpërkthyer

Sot Kisha përkujton Mjekët e Shenjtë Jomercenarë Kozma dhe Damian, Martiret Kiriaini dhe Juliana dhe Shën Davidin e Eubesë.

Mjekët Kozmai dhe Damiani, të ardhur nga Azia, humbën babanë e tyre në moshë të re. Nëna e tyre, Theodote, u siguroi atyre një edukim të shkëlqyer dhe një edukim të krishterë.

Pasi kultivuan virtytet e krishtera, ata iu përkushtuan me zell studimit dhe praktikës së mjekësisë. Ata ofruan lirisht njohuritë e tyre mjekësore, duke i trajtuar të sëmurët me dashuri, dhembshuri dhe respekt, duke mos pranuar asnjëherë pagesë për shërbimet e tyre. Për këtë arsye, himnografia e Kishës i nderon ata si Unmercenarë të Shenjtë (“Anargyroi”), duke pasqyruar njohjen e qëndrueshme të besimtarëve.

Shenjtorët fituan një thesar të padurueshëm duke e vendosur shpresën e tyre tërësisht te Perëndia. Duke besuar me vendosmëri se "falas keni marrë; jepni falas", ata u dhuruan shërim të gjithëve pa kërkuar pasuri apo pasuri tokësore. Me gëzim, ata vazhdojnë t'i japin njerëzimit bekime shpirtërore dhe fizike. Sipas traditës së Kishës, ata gjithashtu shëruan kafshët, duke treguar providencën dhe kujdesin e dashur të Perëndisë për të gjithë krijimin.
