Saint George's Day Toronto and Unveiling of Historical Plaque Christ is Risen!

On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Archbishop Sotirios presided over the Great Vespers at the celebrant I.N. Saint George the Great Martyr, in downtown Toronto. The Most Reverend Bishop of Patara, Mr. Athenagoras, the priest. head Protopr. Fr. Filippos Filippou, as well as other clergy from the greater Toronto area.

A multitude of believers came to worship and honor one of the most beloved Saints of Christianity, including Mr. Evangelos Sotiropoulos, President of the Lords of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Canada, Ms. Zoe Verouti, President of the Philoptochos Archbishop Council of Canada and Mr. Grigorios Karakoulas, Lord and President of the Community Council of the I.N. Agios Georgios.

In his sermon, His Holiness referred to the history of the Church of St. George, as well as to the strong and unshakable faith of the Glorious Great Martyr and Trophy Bearer, calling on all Christians to imitate this faith and love for Jesus Christ.
