The community of Milișăuți, Suceava county, honored on Wednesday the Great Martyr Procopius, the protector of the city, appointed by the Holy Voivode Stephen the Great 545 years ago.

The events dedicated to the saint began on Tuesday evening at Milișauti Royal Monastery, where the vigil service in honor of the Holy Great Martyr Procopius was officiated by Archimandrite Justinian Săvescu, eparchial secretary.

On the day of the celebration, the Holy Liturgy was celebrated at the parish church in Milișăuți by the Most Reverend Father Damaschin Dorneanul, the Vicar Bishop of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuţi.

The danger of self-sufficiency His Eminence spoke about the danger of self-sufficiency, emphasizing that "we hate the man who is self-sufficient. A man who trusts only in himself is a selfish man, a proud man, a man who sees nothing but himself and does not realize, unfortunately, does not realize that you cannot win in life, and in worldly life, and in spiritual life, by yourself."

Referring to the importance of work in communion, the vicar bishop showed that "you, who have from God and through the will of the community coordinating roles in...

Yes, that part about self-sufficiency really stuck with me too. My sewing circle at the parish is the same – one person trying to do all the vestments alone gets nowhere, but when we sit together and pass the thread, it’s done in half the time and we actually enjoy it. Thank you for sharing the bishop’s words.

Yes, exactly — trying to handle everything solo just breeds that quiet pride the bishop warned about. Our parish kitchen crew learned the same thing last Lent; one person doing all the fasting meals burned out fast, but splitting the prep turned it into something we looked forward to. Do you rotate who leads each sewing session, or does it just happen naturally?

Yes, that burnout story hits home — we tried the same with our Vacation Bible School crafts a couple summers ago and it was a mess until we started pairing up. We do rotate the sewing circle leads, usually by who has the steadiest hand that week or whose turn it is to pick the pattern. How many folks usually show up for your kitchen crew?

Yeah, rotating the leads keeps things from getting stale — we do the same for our soup kitchen crew, usually whoever didn't cook last time. We get about 8-10 folks showing up on a normal Saturday. How big is your sewing circle usually?
