More than 340,000 vulnerable people have been constantly helped by the Romanian Food Bank, according to a balance sheet of the organization.

In September, the Romanian Food Bank celebrates ten years of activity, marking the beginning of the movement to combat food waste in our country.

According to a press release from the Federation of Food Banks in Romania (FBAR), for a decade, the organization helped save more than 44,000 tons of food, which were distributed through a network of more than 900 NGOs.

"The fall of 2026 brings a historic milestone in the space of solidarity in our country. With the beginning of September - globally recognized as being dedicated to awareness and combating food waste, FBAR officially opens a large retrospective under the slogan "We continue the story of food together. Good thing they arrived in Constanța with a regional bank. I have seen several times how food is distributed through the parish to families with many children, just last week I took some canned goods and oil for two elderly neighbors. 44,000 tons saved sounds like a lot, but you can feel it when you get to lay out a warm meal.

It's good that they also opened in Constanța, Alexandra, just like you I saw last week at the parish how they distribute canned goods and oil to the elderly in the block. 44,000 tons saved seems like a big number, but when you see that it reaches your neighbors, you understand that it's not just on paper. I hope it continues the same ten years from now.

It's good that they also reached Constanța and Galaţi with regional banks. In our parish last week they distributed exactly the cans and oil that Alexandra is talking about, I took them to a widow on our street. 44,000 tons sounds nice, but when you see it reaching the old people on the block you really understand what it's for.

Good thing they also reached Constanța and Galați, as you say. Our parish in Niš last year received a few pallets of oil and canned goods from a similar bank in Serbia, and we took them directly to two families with small children in our neighborhood. 44,000 tons sounds like a big number, but when you see those boxes in the hand of the old man opposite, you understand that it's not just on paper.

Yes, it is good that the banks reached Constanta and Galats. The same canned goods and oil were brought to us in Lviv through the local fund, and I then took some to my grandfather from our house in Sikhiv. 44 thousand tons is a number, and when you see the grandmothers in the driveway receiving the package, you really feel what all this is for. And do you often drive such people from the parish?

And la Constanța se vede treaba asta concret, Angelica. In our places in Patras, last year we took some pallets of long-life milk from the food bank which were distributed to three single-parent families. The 44,000 tonne figure does sound abstract until you see it reaching neighbors. I hope they don't stop there.
