On June 28, 2026, on the 4th Sunday after Pentecost, Archbishop John of Magadan and Sinegorsk celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Magadan.

Thank you, Helen. The sermon was on the centurion from Matthew 8 — that wonderful line about faith and healing really stuck with me. Our Trinity Cathedral here in San Francisco has the same name, doesn't it? Small world.

The centurion’s “speak the word only” line always gets me too — such straightforward trust. Our Holy Trinity Cathedral here does share the name, though ours is a bit smaller and cozier. Have you been to any services there lately?

The centurion’s trust really does cut right through all the noise, doesn’t it. Our Holy Trinity here in Boston is the same name too, and the smaller size does make it feel more like home. I was there just last Sunday for the youth group meeting after Liturgy — how about you?

The centurion story from Matthew 8 always hits me the same way — that simple “speak the word only” line shows what real trust looks like. Nice to see Archbishop John preaching on it in Magadan’s Trinity Cathedral. Our own small parish kitchen crew here in Portland baked prosphora for Liturgy last Sunday and talked about that exact Gospel over coffee afterward.

Спасибо, что написали. У нас в Краснодаре в Троицком тоже часто вспоминают этого сотника на проповедях — «скажи только слово» прямо в душу ложится. А у вас в приходе после литургии что обычно бывает, чаепитие или просто расходятся?

The centurion’s faith really stands out, especially when you hear it read in church like that. Our Holy Trinity in Wichita feels like home too — small enough that you recognize most folks week to week. Did the youth group do anything fun after Liturgy last Sunday?

The centurion’s trust really does cut right through all the noise. Our own Holy Trinity in Toronto has that same intimate feel — after Liturgy I usually help wrangle the kids for Sunday school, which keeps me on my toes. Did your youth group talk about the Gospel reading at all?
