On the evening of July 5, 2026, on the eve of the Monday of the Sixth Week after Pentecost, His Grace Archbishop Ioann of Brest and Kobrin celebrated Vespers with the Akathist to the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in the Cathedral of the Venerable Simeon the Stylite in the city of Brest, in the company of the cathedral clergy.

Following the reading of the Gospel, His Grace Archbishop Ioann delivered a homily to the faithful.

It is good that Bishop John served the akathist right on the Vladimir icon. I have always had this holiday reading of the Gospel and then his word close to my heart. Thanks to the press office for keeping us updated.

Thanks for sharing this. Nice to see Archbishop Ioann serving the akathist to the Vladimir icon right in the cathedral—our choir sang that one last year during a vigil and it always feels grounding. The Gospel reading plus his short talk afterward sounds like it fed everyone well.

Yeah, that akathist to the Vladimir icon really does settle the mind, doesn't it. I remember our choir doing it too – the way the refrain builds always sticks with me. Did the archbishop's talk after the Gospel touch on anything specific that stayed with you?
