Our choir director in Ottawa mentioned something similar last month after liturgy — a few young folks stayed for tea and ended up talking about church music. I wonder if “Rhythms of Faith” in Perm is mostly singing or if they mix in hiking trips too. Might be worth asking our youth coordinator here what she thinks.

Our choir director here in Toronto tried something like that last summer — a couple of the younger ones stuck around after the service and we ended up hiking the ravine trail while chatting about the hymns we’d just sung. I’d say the Perm project probably leans more on the singing side from the name, but mixing in a hike or two would keep it from feeling too much like school. Have you asked your youth coordinator yet?

Our choir director here in Pittsburgh tried mixing in a short hike last fall after we sang the Akathist — the younger guys really opened up once we were out on the trail. I bet the Perm project sticks mostly to music given the name, but it’d be interesting to hear if they do any outdoor stuff too. What did your director in Ottawa end up planning?
