At the Museum of the History of Orthodoxy in Kamchatka, the head of the diocesan department of culture, priest Roman Nikitin, conducted an excursion for guests who arrived from the Elizovsky deanery.

“The missionaries who worked on the peninsula for three centuries of the history of Orthodoxy in Kamchatka,” said Father Roman Nikitin, “required not only the ability to preach the Word of God, but also certain knowledge in medicine. It also required courage to travel hundreds of kilometers through deserted places, facing blizzards, famine, and epidemics face to face. Having gone through such a school of life, nothing was scary anymore, everything turned out to be within my control. Although there were also unexpected difficulties on the way of the missionaries, because of which they had to take a detour. A separate stand is dedicated to Saint Innocent, the first Bishop of Kamchatka, Kuril and Aleutian in our Museum of the History of Orthodoxy in Kamchatka. This Monday, a group of parishioners of the churches of the Elizovo deanery got acquainted with the Museum’s exhibition. For more than an hour and a half, visitors to the Museum got acquainted with the history of courageous people - missionaries and confessors of the faith of our region.”
