Varnavas of Neapolis: "The suburban train and the extension of the Metro to the west must be the first priority"translated

With the consecration performed by the Metropolitan of Neapolis and Stavroupolis, Mr. Varnavas, the delivery ceremony of 50 new electric buses took place, which are part of the urban transport fleet of Thessaloniki, significantly enhancing the movement of citizens.

In his speech, His Eminence characterized the day as particularly important for western Thessaloniki, stressing that the area serves a population that reaches 400,000 inhabitants.

"Our joy is special today. We are talking about a densely populated area, with the youngest population of Thessaloniki. They are the people who commute every day, the young, the workers, the students. A whole world that for years lived invisible, on the sidelines", he said characteristically.

The Metropolitan pointed out that the upgrading of public transport is not only an infrastructure project, but primarily a matter of respect for human dignity.

"People's daily lives are characterized by the dignity they must have when they work and when they move. That is why the delivery of these buses fills us with hope", he noted.
