Visit of the Metropolitan of Kydonia to the Municipality of Plataniastranslated

The Municipality of Platanias was visited today, July 2, 2026 after his enthronement in Chania, by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Kydonia and Apokoronou, Mr. Titos, as part of his ceremonial visits to the institutions of the region. The visit was of particular importance, as a large number of Municipal Communities of the Municipality of Platanias are ecclesiastically subordinate to the Holy Metropolis of Kydonia and Apokoronou, confirming the long-standing ties of cooperation and mutual respect between the Local Government and the Church.

His Eminence was welcomed by the Mayor of Platanias, Mr. Ioannis Malandrakis, the President of the Board of Directors. Mr. Fragonikolakis Antonios, in the presence of all the Deputy Mayors and Municipal Councilors, the General Secretary of the Municipality, as well as the representatives of the major and minor opposition of the Municipal Council and employees of the Municipality.

During the meeting, the Reverend Metropolitan of Kydonia and Apokoronou, Mr. Titos, referred to the essential role that all institutions are called to play in strengthening social cohesion, placing special emphasis on the support and care of the new generation.
