St. Matthew's Sunday at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Viennatranslated

The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Austria Mr. Arsenios presided over the High Priestly Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Vienna, on the 5th Sunday of St. Matthew, July 5, 2026. He was flanked by Archimandrite Ilias Papadopoulos and Elder Federico Matan from Finland.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, His Holiness urged the faithful to participate in the services of the parishes of the Holy Metropolis of Austria during the period of the heat, while he recommended their participation in the planned holy services of the celebration of the Holy Monastery of Agia Skepi and Agios Paisios in Burgenland.

In his sermon, His Holiness analyzed the Gospel passage of the healing of the demon-possessed under our Lord Jesus Christ, drawing attention to our attitude towards the Gospel message to be indulged by contemporary material temptations.

The drama of the situation of the demon-possessed consists in the fact that while they live in the flesh, in essence they partake of death and are far from Christ the Savior.
